The day i was returning after watching Kai Po Che,all what was in my mind was-"What a film! What a message!" but then it suddenly clicked to me,isn't it based on the novel by the same Chetan Bhagat who we believe writes 'crap'???!No doubt,Abhishek Kapoor presented the film beautifully but isn't the real hero of the story the writer? We may not admit but somewhere down we all like Chetan Bhagat novels.I honestly admit I've read all of his novels and I really found them good.Five point someone and Two States being my favorites. And the epicThree Idiots has taken its plot from his writings only, right? And Two States is in making. Then why do we so love to criticise him?Don't we find them interesting? They have such b'ful thoughts behind them. But still we say "Arrey,Chetan Bhagat toh writes total crap..typical masala!"So????the question is-Do we like it or not?Don't we Indians love masala?Aren't British authors enough for being bland?Or do we need to echo them here too?I'm quite taken aback when the 'oh-so-feminist' girls in my class love to lash upon him.I'm not a huge fan of his books too but I don't agree that he writes 'crap',cuz if he does, why does his books sell off instantly?the truth is WE LIKE READING CHETAN BHAGAT! What he writes can easily be connected with us,with the Indian culture.Tell me,how many of you found his description of a typical Punjabi family in Two States not true???It was!So folks, before trying to sound 'oh-so-intellectual' think whether you're making a point or not plus for most for the people reading is for pleasure, don't forget! How many times have you seen people reading Shakespeare or Charles Dickens out of interest?Very rarely..Any one not agreeing to this is is most welcome for a debate;)

The question that arises is why does he deserves the respect?
P.S. Saying that "My" brain can't retain is the most childish argument I have ever seen. I didn't retain the character's name cause they weren't interesting enough.
I started watching the movie two weeks back, I couldn't even finish it. It was that uninteresting.
The main difference that makes me think that Chetan bhagat is just an average writer is that when you end his novel, the characters don't stay in your mind, forcing you to think beyond the end of novel. That is where such intellectual novels differ.
Take an example of Arvind Adiga's White Tiger, it is relatable as hell and makes you think quite beyond the book.
