^Man's most favourite question, and a matter of great research and curiosity for them. Why Make-up when we all know how she looks like?
Spending thousands on surgery to get a perfect nose, cupid-bow lips, dreamy eyes, spend money waxing and threading their eyebrows, getting rid of almost every hair on their body leaving their heads alone, or many even cutting off their long locks to a short bob! And iron them or get them curled! As if that was not enough! They even spend hundreds for a single kajal!
A kajal is a kajal, a black thing applied on eyes. During olden days, they were collected from the residue after oil inside the copper diya was burnt, then slowly they were collected and sold in small containers costing an anna or even lesser; then a rupee or two and now, are back in fashion again, sold by popular brands of L**me and Ma**elline and all that, with different promises of remaining smudge-free coming in lucrative packages!And then they (women) start up with their different styles of applying them like retro or Egyptian, or chic or smokey!
Men never understand their logic. When women actually know how their eyes are, their texture of skin is, their original nose and colour of their lips are, then why hide it from the world and show them a dishonest face slapped with different brands and colours over their eyes and lips and cheeks? They say inner beauty is all that is required by highlighting a story wherein a prince chooses a poor lady, not so beautiful as his bride instead of a queue of other beautiful princesses! But think, is it applicable nowadays?
Of course the world is modern and more logical, and depends on your merits and not your beauty; but first and foremost, beauty does matter. Beauty makes you comfortable, makes you look even more beautiful from outside, thus making you more beautiful inside (you're hence not jealous of virtuous women possessing an angelic beauty. Complex happens, I know, when you are not equally beautiful).
You're wrong, men when you think they do it to impress you people. They rather live in their own world, being beautiful, feelig beautiful and spreading beauty to make this world more beautiful. :)
