This is to all people who think wearing the things that indicate you are "Soubhagyavathi" or "Muttayide" or simply a married woman is a crap, traditional or old fashioned.
Let me tell you the scientific & spiritual reasons behind each.
Initially, there are 5 things in hinduism which indicate the woman is married.
1st- the Mangalasutra or commonly known as thali
2nd- the toe ring
3rd- the sindoor or kumkum
4th- bangles
5th-the nose stead or nose ring
Mangalsutra is an auspicious thread tied by a groom to his bride on the day of marriage which is expected to be worn until her husband's death. This is the thread that binds a woman forever to her husband. This is mostly made in gold as an identifiable mark for married women. This too is believed to regularize a women's blood circulation. This is also said to control the body pressure levels to a maximum extent, as Indian women tend to work hard. Advised it should always be hidden. Just because of the constant friction of the metal gold touching the body portion directly, the effect will be more to gain the said benefits.
Toe ring: By wearing this in both feet, it is believed, that their Menstrual cycle course is regularized with even intervals. This gives good scope for conceiving to a married woman. Also it is said just because that particular nerve in the second finger from toe, also connects the uterus and passes through heart. Because of this, the constant friction caused while walking and doing all sorts of chores during a day, it revitalizes the productivity organs.Silver being a good conductor, it also absorbs the energy from the polar energies from the earth and passes it to the body, thus refreshing whole body system.
Nose ring or nose stead: Not an unfound myth. It is considered as a breath regularizing and some say it is just to eliminate the poison coming out while exhaling carbon.
Kumkum: The area in which the mark of the Kumkum is applied is between the eyebrows, called the “Ajna Chakra”. The tilak Sindoor or Bindi also represents our third eye (the spiritual eye) a concept closely related to Lord Shiva. The entire body emanates energy in the form of electromagnetic waves “ the forehead and the subtle spot between the eyebrows especially so. That is why worry generates heat and causes a headache. The tilak and pottu cools the forehead, protects us and prevents energy loss. Same resembles to the "Vibhuti" or 'Bhasma" applied on the forehead.
Bangles- Glass bangles have the Sattva component, Devi Principle and Chaitanya (Divine consciousness) in them. Due to the sound generated by the glass bangles, the negative energies back off. While the plastic bangles attracts negative energies. Glass bangles is said to increase the vital energy and the motor organs of the woman are protected, while plastic ones worn for fashion is said to decrease. With the help of these waves, the married woman is protected from the evil-eye and attacks of negative energies.

or dont men want to be spiritually well after marriage? :-P
@Shambhavi and Rooki:
First of all ... lol !!
Men do not give birth to children. Period.
In Hinduism men are required (as per books) to maintain hell lot of discipline and do lots and lots of pooja. So need of the century is getting over the "why only women" attitude ... :P
The fact is not many men and women follow any of our ancient science!! That's kind of sad. We really need to rediscover what we had since ages.
However, people who are entirely shameless, despite this will act charmer and break a family.
Though i agree with 'Visiting Faculty' here... giving sources for these facts would have made it stronger...
Wondering ...!
1st Mangalsutra: AFAIK, in those days men used to work harder than woman and that is why wife treats her husband like a god because, he is the only source of food and bed. Men also have blood and it circulates. I also want my husband's blood to circulate better than mine because, I love him more than my life. I personally feel that, mangalsutra will also benefit men too if they wear it. I also want my husband stay binded to me forever. I want my husband to have those whatsoever additional benefits. I want that thread to regularize his pressure levels so that I don’t have to cry every other day or very often.
2nd Toe Ring: Okie so, man don’t have cycle. I will pass on this. However, that nerve touches heart. I can argue here saying it will be very beneficial for my husband's heart. But, there wouldn’t be any difference between you and me if conclude without proof here. In reality it is very painful when worn along with running shoes, sneakers and ballerina shoes. I don’t want my husband to go through pain and it is OK if he don’t wear toe ring.
3rd Nose ring: Well, men have nose and they inhale and exhale. May be even more than us because they work harder than us in everything. I want this nose ring to eliminate poison coming out of my husband's nose while exhaling carbon? Is the myth true that man exhale ozone and woman exhale carbon?
4th Kumkum: You are saying Sindhoor/Kumkum represents third eye of Lord Shiva(male god) and it is very sad to see men not applying kumkum daily. As per your article, “the entire body emanates energy in the form of electromagnetic waves, the forehead and the subtle spot between the eyebrows especially so. That is why worry generates heat and causes a headache. The tilak and pottu cools the forehead, protects us and prevents energy loss.†I feel that my husband also should wear Sindhoor everyday because, all male gods I have seen in temple wear kumkum. In fact that example you have taken in this article is a Male god. I know women has to wear kumkum/sindhoor everyday and I’m doing it. That’s why I’m a good woman. I love my husband. I don’t want him to suffer from headaches and hence, man also should wear sindhoor everyday.
5th Bangles: - Now, I feel very safe wearing glass bangles. But, hinduism is so woman friendly and men's safety is quite ignored. I feel sad that negative energy in my husband is not backed off because, men don’t wear bangles. It is so unfair for men. :( My husband goes to work and falls sick for no reason. I’m always very worried until he gets better. It is surprisingly true that I never get sick after working hard 5days at office and 2 days at home esp. I never get to sleep whole heartedly like I did before marriage. That’s why, I wish married men are also protected by evil-eye and negative energy and clearly glass bangles will save men too.
Maybe this is why woman are beaten, abused and raped. Maybe this is why we don’t do all that horrible stuff that men are doing since ages. May be all men are not so intense in torture but, they are still men who make a woman cry all the time. What’s the point of getting married if she cries very often? I don’t want woman to sacrifice everything to cry forever while husband's ego is not eliminated by any of your 5 elements. I wish all these 5 elements are also followed by men also for their own good and esp. woman’s happy life. She has a soul and she have a heart and man’s positivity should be shown on woman and he should remember to value her as a human being.
can u explain.?? anon..
