Why???
All of us have watched the movie cocktail, right???
It is a 21st century movie with all the superb songs and locations. But what they represent is sadly the state of Indian people's psychology and that's what I despise.
The girls who are outgoing, extrovert and dominating -
everyone admires them, right? People say - "oh, she's so
bold! She's so successful!" Who wants to marry her?
NOBODY!
Mothers tell their sons that she's too clever. Guys think
that she holds a high position in office, or is a "boss
bitch", goes out on parties, drinks, hangs out with guys
and stuff. They'll love to hang out with her. Boast her as their girlfriend. But, when it comes to marriage, they want a girl who is homely, and knows how to cook!
In the movie also, Deepika attempts to learn how to cook so that the guy falls in love with her! Why is cooking and being a homely "bahu" so important when it comes to marriage?
Everyone wants outgoing extrovert girls as employees, friends, girlfriend but when it comes to wife, they want a girl who could be dominated and isn't bold!
They still want someone who won't talk, who's very innocent, who doesn't really voice her opinion when it comes to issues at home. A woman who holds an important position at work can outsource home tasks to a maid servant. why are these things considered as a stigma?
Yes, She's bold, outgoing, extrovert, ambitious but still She
has a heart that yearns for love. She knows that she loves her partner
as much as she loves her work. Then why do she needs to shut
her mouth when it comes to things at home or know how
to clean dishes or cook?

As far as we are talking about the movie; its commercial cinema, meant for entertainment purposes and not social awareness. One would be on a fool's gold journey if such answers were sought from here.
Try documentaries and film festival movies.
That got me thinking ;
somewhere down the line the very guy who was the leader of WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CLUB in the school kept such views ;
and case in no different anywhere in the country...
It is a shame , actually..
Well such is the scenario here. Not just in movies but almost everywhere.
Tsk tsk.
