You wanted me badly
then carried me home gladly
I, the apple of your I
grew up under your watchful eye
made me accompany wherever you'd go
folk n places to show
gave me the best
left nothing to rest
put your own ambitions to dust
swallowing the shame
not thinking of your name
ever protective like a mother hen
saving me from aggressive men
urging me to aim high
encouragingly so nigh
at my sickly bedside you did sigh
then at my success gave me a high five
rebuked my error
you the torch bearer
picked for me the job
and the man
providing the need
with no space for greed
making sure I was comfy
ignoring my ways so clumsy
you were and still are my best friend
truly a Godsend!
