Awesome lyrics produced by some great writers! Sad it is though that their work is getting drowned in the music 'bhasad' of today - as i would call it!
Frankly i'd never paid attention to these lines.. for the younger generation, songs like these only emerge while playing a game of antakshari! but now that i look at it, i must say that these lines are wonderfully written.. the heart behaves in the most weird ways, and these lines signify just that for me.. the ever increasing conflict between the heart and the brain

If you life someone you just like them and there's no reason behind it. Even if we think that there's a reason for this liking, this theory will defy itself when put across some other person to be liked for the same reasons.
Does it make any sense? You know...its my heart talking... :P
