It's the wedding season going on and I happened to attend one recently. Weddings, specially Indian weddings are exciting fun to attend.
So this wedding was no different and from the colourful decor to well organized tables to fabulously decorated stage everything looked perfect. Since I'm a foodie I happened to notice the snacks section first and started smacking my lips as I take a look at each section. My father is a punctual man and unfortunately we were the first ones to reach the place. Nevertheless I was happy since the waiter was attending me well and I kept on trying a new snack every time.
Weddings are the perfect occassion where you meet your relatives and flaunt your dresses (girls would understand better). Since I was alone after some time as my parents got busy, and being the kind of person I am, I started observing people. There were middle aged women who were sitting together looking here and there and discussing clothes and jewellery. I could tell by their facial expression when they estimated the price of a piece and how much.
Then there was a group of guys noticing girls, they would look around the whole place and stare at a particular girl, scan her and then move to the next. I didn't really like them and spent the least time on them.
Next were two guys (probably siblings) who focussed on food (just like me), they would go to each and every stall and please there taste buds with delicious mouthwatering snacks. Well, I loved them!
Some people have an extraordinary craze for dancing and without bothering about anybody they start dancing. An uncle danced with a glass of whiskey on his head. And how can the wedding be complete without the famous 'rail gaddi aayi' song where people start dancing together forming chains just like a train.
Others were chatting, ladies gossiping, people like me busy with their phones and trying to pass time.
my mother insisted me to go on the stage to click a picture with bride and groom but being a lazy person and having no interest in general I refused and she had to give up! I resumed to my task.
In between I was observing the people who were not part of the wedding - waiters, maids and people on the stalls. Have you imagined how they would feel to serve in a celebration they're not even a part of. To see people come dressed up, clicking pictures, dancing enjoying. Something they can't even think of, something they dream of. We all feel bad for them but nobody can do anything.
I saw man shouting on a waiter for not serving him the right way. Why do we forget they are humans too?!
There were people who brought maids to take care of their kids, maids who remain with the kids 24/7, be a part of their life, see them enjoying yet not being able to afford any such thing. They are always on duty and look deprived and somewhat depressed.
So, I happened to again focus my attention to food and went ahead for dinner, I served myself rice and daal with chapati and mixed veg, enjoyed it with my brother, who now came back to give me some company and then we both insisted father to go back home.
