the Richard Nixon story,
It didn't just blow out of nowhere. It was the kind of stuff one would imagine oops! no one could imagine would or could happen. IN USA; just when it was about to celebrate it's bicentenary a president resigned while in office. What does that say. Some nay sayer might add on " hey what does this tell you about the fact that no other country in the world faced such a trauma" or " hey point out any country who's politics is corrupt like that".
So easy. It doesn't feel like anyone knows the context or reference they might be quoting when there is nobody hitherto to question the credibility and raise questions about the implication of that statement.
Taking the liberty to dig deeper into the problem, one without any doubt will find answers that might change the way they respond forever. Is there anyone who doesn't know the prevalent corruption that is to be presumed in any contemporary government or in the past? I seriously doubt that. Assuming a corruption free world is the person living in dystopic fantasy You gotta be 'ballsy' to implore the truth and present in its truest form. That's what journalism stood for. I won't comment on the haphazard ways the journalism has destroyed its credibility . Not to talk about the indelible mark it has left on the entire honest fraternity and the reason for which it stood for once.
I wouldn't say David Frost's interview was the sole reason journos slap their back every time they hunt a big fish nowadays. But that iconic interview will always be held a level higher than any journalistic activity. Something that no jury, no prosecutor, no trial could have achieved. A confession . Yes a confession of the 'sins' committed by a person who is called the leader of the free world. And yes he is in its truest sense. I daresay he is akin to Hitler of the WW-2 Europe. The kind of power one man has can destroy the entire world at his whim and wishes. And when the public who elected him to represent them, comes out as a crook is a blow to the faith of the people. The best anomaly would be 'the wife cheating on the husband in India'. I take this as example because normally a husband is expected to leer and cheat on other women, not that I completely go with this stereotype image..I am against it. But for the sake of our polite argument that one might raise. And public is like a husband who might show different colors and shades. They have a mutual trust and when that breaks ,,betrayal and mistrust follows.
How can people judge a man again and decide to elect him without having a pinch of skepticism in future."Do I really want to vote for the corrupt"? Is the million dollar question that has seldom been answered.
If the presidency can fall based on public opinion, that country has a bright and prosperous future...I guarantee.
