Living in the twenty first century, I always imagined people, especially students of our age to be mature, to have high goals and ambitions...

..till I got to meet a girl (infact, call her a lady), my classmate in the college. It was the first day of college, Food and Nutrition as the subject. The professor came in, addressing us all the girls and giving us a warm welcome.

"Who wants to volunteer in introducing themselves?" She asked, giving her introduction first. To her surprise (and ours), nobody was interested. She waited, and kept on repeating, and when she understood that we weren't the one who had the courage to stand up and speak, she decided to have a game.

"Introduce yourselves one by one, and give the reasons why you were not interested in introducing yourselves earlier."

One by one, the girls started introducing themselves. Some came from other parts of the country, while many stayed here since childhood. Each one had a goal set in her life, till there came a girl who volunteered to introduce herself in front of the classroom.

Holding her branded wristwatch in her fist, she stood up in the most indecent way.
"Myself, Sakshi and I am from such-and-such school.." she said, giving the name of her school.

she continued, "I passed my 12th not this year, but in 2011. I took Philosophy honours in the first year, but then I dropped a year during my second year."
We were quite amused. To me, I felt she had lost her three years of life. She took a poor subject, dropped without reason to get admission to another subject without any secure future!

The professor asked, "What's you ambition?"

"My ambition is to bake lots and lots of cakes and pastries." She said.

From what I said, people may infer that maybe she didn't have the resources to dream big, but then, she wa in her branded clothes, branded jewellery, and so fluent in english.
Unfortunately, she already understood what her dad's money could get her, and hence why worry when you have a rich daddy who would bear all your expenses and weird ambitions?
I pitied her poor parents.
I understood what they may have gone through to bear with the "Spoilt Girl".
