The big, huge, great, mighty earth
You gave us all a new birth
You taught us to live and how to give
You taught us the greatest and the smallest lessons of life
From standing straight to touching the sky
Your huge trees gave us the support to stand
The roots of your trees hold our feet firmly
Your far spread land gave us a platform to stand
Your each tiny leaf showed us the way of life
Your tiniest creatures taught us to live with care
Your blue wide ocean gave us a new source of brightness
Your vast sky gave us the wings to fly
Your very own sand taught us to join and build a wall
This was your love and care which you showed us
When we were on a race to be civilized
Now that we are civilized but still
We are on the race of advancement of science
Our early life was a blowing wind
With gradual development and a bit of swing
Now we’ve touched the sky, the bottom of the ocean
We have touched you to your deep core
We have sailed around you several times
From wet oceans to lands which always remain dry
Oh! Mother earth, you gave us so many things
But what we gave you was nothing in return
You did everything to make us complete
But what we all became was a con man
You gave us the feelings which were in your heart
But what we did was made you a concrete stone
You cooled us with your winters
You made us warm with your summers
You nourished us with your spring and autumn
And we selfish humans disrupted your seasons
We created global warming and depleted you protection ozone
We dug every part of yours
In search of precious stones
Still, you blessed us as your own children
And we cursed you as a hard stone, forgetting everything
Who said you cannot speak?
You spoke, yes you spoke
You spoke with your tsunami
You spoke with your Katrina
You spoke with your cyclones, tides, eruptions and blasts
And every time you spoke thunder current falls on earth
Giving a warning of our warming done to you
Are we humans capable of bearing your thunder current
Certainly the answer is NO
Nobody can change nature’s cycle
Once its complete it restarts again
I tell each one of you the end of humanity is not so far
What we gave and are giving our mother earth
It is a reply of that
To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Has the human forgot the Newton’s law of motion
But this is the earth’s law of regeneration
The things before us will again regenerate after us
The dodo the dinosaur will again rule the earth
What will not remain is human and its worth
I ask you, you and each one of you sitting here
Is this the real worth of our mother earth?
