There was a clown
he always made 'em happy
He jumped up and down
went round and round
never wore a frown
Folk flocked to watch
his acts of mimicry
they laughed when he made faces
and when he tripped over his tangled shoe laces
But little did they know
that as soon as his act was over..
and he was off the limelight..
he got depressed again
his face wore a frown
turned a shade too brown
tears rolled down his cheek
like water off a creek
he trudged with heavy footsteps
over his doorsteps
with feet of lead
plonked on his bed
wept all day
wouldn't stop
till next day's dawn
now he puts on a grin
for the show must go on!
