It's been a long time since I wrote something up here! Well, sorry for that. But certain things held me up and I couldn't write. But my eyes were opened yesterday thanks to a personality development class that I had to attend. So what am I writing about? The title says "The person within". But who is this person within? Do we know that person? Let's check out!
Sit back alone and think, if someone was to ask you, "Who are you?" , what would be your answer? I'm not speaking about those formal introductions involving our names, titles, educational qualifications, etc. The answer that I expect is more about the kind of person you are, about who actually you are. But most of the times when we are asked this question we are blank!! But why? Do we not know ourselves enough that we can speak hours on who we are and what we are? The answer is again a no! We know ourselves but not exactly ourselves, we know the person whom the world had made.
Most of the time we are so engrossed in keeping up with the expectations of others, that we have forgotten our own ambitions and aspirations. Our dreams and desires are not our own, but the ones painted by our daily acquaintances. Our thoughts our not our own, but are what others expect us to think. In this busy world, we are always on the go. We have little or no time to sit back and think on our own. We don't have time to think on what we really want. Because somewhere within we've all been wired and programmed to do things that we are supposed to do as opposed to what we really want to do.
When was the last time you sat back alone and thought of what you really want? By sitting back alone I don't mean sitting with the computer in front of you, with your cellphone beeping every other minute. Yes, we are all connected in an instant these days. We live life on the go! But in the race to be connected with the world we have forgotten to connect with the most important person and that is you!
In life, situations often arise when we need to compromise on our dreams. Compromise for the moment, but don't give up! And compromising doesn't mean that you have to give up everything at the cost of your self respect. The person who matters the most is you! The person whom you are supposed to please the most is you! Trials and difficulties do come along, but if you know yourself well enough then the going becomes easier.
Spend time alone and do things you really like to do! Most of the times we don't do the things that we want to do. We give reasons, we give mundane excuses. We tell ourselves that we can't do things because we're not good enough! Because we're not capable of doing it or because we fear what will others think of us or what if we fail? The only thing to fear about is fear itself. Sit back and think and dream. Let those dreams and thoughts come out freely, unopposed by the ways and thoughts of the world. Come out of your comfort zone. A comfort zone is what we've made up ourselves to limit our capabilities. Try extending it and you don't know how big your comfort zone can get! Know yourself so well that you're not lost in this sea of humanity as just another person. We are all unique! Believe in yourself! If you don't believe in yourself, how can you expect others to? The belief in yourself comes only if you know yourself! Hence, the key is knowing yourself. Use this key to unlock the doors you've never tried to open, to unleash that power you never thought you had!
You may be wondering why am I telling all this, the reason's simple. I went through all this myself. Just yesterday I was so engrossed in doing things I was supposed to do that I hardly had time to pursue what I really what I wanted to do and what I was passionate about doing. I hadn't written all this while just because I thought I had no time. And yes my schedule is hectic, but I realized yesterday when I spent time alone that if love doing something making time for it is not a tough task. And here I am sharing whats in my mind! Believe me or don't, it took me just 22 minutes to write this down! Words flow when I'm interested in doing it! It's applicable to other things as well. So go on venture into your mind and think of who you really are! Happy knowing more about yourself!!!
