Bella used to live in her bungalow near an area full of caves
Bella was chatting with Amy when Meg arrived crying. “Bella my dog Mongrel is lost.” Meg said.
“It is ok Meg; dogs are faithful to their master. Mongrel would come back very soon.” Bella said.
“Bella, you are a detective. Help me find my dog.”
“Meg, Bella is very busy now a day.” Ariel said.
“Meg, we would find Mongrel. Come on.” Bella said
The three girls rushed out to find the dog. Bella, Meg and Amy scattered in almost all directions to find their dear Mongrel but where unsuccessful. Then finally they found Mongrel in a cave.
“Poor dog must have come in and lost its way.” Amy said.
“Dogs never leave their masters unless they are ill treated.” Bella said.
“I love Mongrel.” Meg said.
“Okay Meg now look at Mongrel, he is cold. Come let us take him.” Bella said.
They picked up Mongrel and started walking back but suddenly Bella said “Oh no I had taken out my mobile to call dad but I think I forgot it there I must better go and bring it. Bye.”
“Okay bye.” Meg said.
Bella went back to the cave. She saw three men enter so she quickly hid herself. They went inside and started talking; Bella could hear them but not very clearly.
“Rob the child has gone.” Said a man with a sharp tone.
“It is okay Jim we still have many, the child does not know much and no one would believe her..” Said a man with a different tone.
They were also talking about something which Bella could not hear clearly. Bella could only hear some words like- 5 pieces, Alp palace and 13th September 2013.
Bella saw the three men leave the cave. The cave was too dark to see the faces of the men clearly but Bella could recognise the men if she met them again. One men surprised Bella with his hair. His hair was of pink and green colour. Bella left the cave after sometime.
All she knew was that 13th September 2013 was after a week, Alp palace was a big bungalow which many people assume to be haunted by an evil spirit and is locked for more than 200 years.
Bella did not want to tell all about the case to her dad as she wanted to prove that she could solve a case all alone if she tried, but however she needed her father’s help. So she went to the police station.
“Hey uncle, is dad inside?” Bella asked a police officer.
“Yes Bella.” He replied.
She went in.
“Dad, I got a new case.”
“Good, Bella, Good. Can you tell me something more?”
“Not much but yes I need some help of course.”
“Tell.”
“Is their any criminal record of Jim and Ron?”
“Bella Jim and Ron are short names, what you call pet names.”
“You mean Jim may be Jimmy and Ron may be Ronald right.”
“Yes, let me check ...yes Bella. Ronald was once imprisoned for stealing money and Jimmy was along with Ronald”
“Does any one of them wear an orange and red coloured wig?”
“Really no idea Bella.” “But there are only 2 hair dresser shops you can ask them.”
“Oh yes thank you.” “Was any missing case registered here?”
“Yes of Angel, Nora, Harris and Dennis.”
“Ok.”
Bella told about this case to Madhuri and she agreed to help her.
“Madhuri you go and ask the hair shop owners about the wig. I will go to the Alp Palace with you after that.”
“Didi, Alp palace is haunted. The spirits will kill you.”
“There is no such thing called Ghosts. Now go concentrate on the work.”
Madhuri went to the shops, the first shop owner had no idea about the wig but the second shop owner told about a man called Joseph who had bought a same coloured wig from there. She made a sketch of Joseph or Joe the pet name he used to use there. Madhuri came back and informed Bella about Joe.
Then Madhuri and Bella went to the Alp palace. All the door and windows were closed so she broke the glass of a window and entered inside. They could not see anything clearly and before they could realise they were inside a cupboard. Suddenly Bella heard a scream. Later she discovered that there was a hole inside the cupboard and Madhuri had fallen into it. She also went inside but it was too dark there. Fortunately Bella had a matchbox and a small piece of wax. She lighted it and started going deeper. There she found three children who introduced themselves as Nora, Harris and Dennis. They all heard the noise of somebody locking the cupboard, which meant they were trapped in it.
Nora started crying.
“Nora stop, your crying would not help.” Bella said.
“Is there any tunnel out from here?” Madhuri said.
“No didi at least we do not know.” Harris said.
“Didi come I have to show you something.” Dennis said.
“Here is a locker.”
“Locker, do you know the password.”
“I am afraid not.”
“Ok do not worry.”
Fortunately Bella brown had a bit of talc. She sprinkled the talc on the locker. The talc got stuck on the keys which was often pressed as the sweat of the fingers were still there. They discovered the combination and opened the locker,
Inside the locker there were few pieces of sparkling and beautiful diamonds. Finally they could get hold of a clue, but they were trapped.
“Didi they would come very soon to give us food.” Nora said
I have an acid it can melt the lock and open the cupboard. They got out of the secret passage. On sprinkling the acid on the lock it melted and they escaped through the broken window.
Later Bella asked them about Angel.
“Angel has escaped, we also tried but where caught. She must have gone to Fort square as she does not know the way to her house. Any children who get lost are taken to the Fort Square orphanage.” Harris said.
Bella took them to the police station and showed them to her dad, Meanwhile Madhuri found Angel at the Fort square and took her to the police station as well.
“Madhuri we must wait in the Alp palace the kidnappers would surely come to find the children.” Bella said.
They went to the Alp palace and hid themselves. After some time the man with the funny wig came with his mates. Bella had brought chloroform with the help of which she could easily take them.
Ronald said “After completing our term in prison we met Joseph who asked us to help him to steal coal as that was his first time and he had no experience. He offered us an awful sum of money so we agreed. Jimmy was not so supportive at first but he also started helping us. We needed a safe place to keep the stolen items so we told a false news of ghosts staying here so that no one dare to come here or buy it. Keeping children to do the theft seemed more safe as no one would suspect children. So we kidnapped them. We every time keep a new group of children so that no one comes to know too much about our business.”
Jimmy continued “ On 13th september a van was expected to come and bring 5 pieces of diamonds. Our plan was to rob them and sell them overseas in about half the market price to avoid competition as there is no tension of having a loss and moreover by doing that no one could arrest us but we got late We surrender before the law.”
Bella’s father arrested the thieves and thus Bella Brown solved another case.
