It’s been a long time since I met her but wasn't getting a way to portray the small interaction with her in a decent manner until it blew my mind finally.
A while ago, I got myself an opportunity to explore meditation in a one day celebration camp. I’m not too much into spiritualism and assume myself an atheist at times but I keep my wings uprooted to keep challenging my ways of life by giving opportunity to how others see and perceive life.
I wasn't getting much interest in staying there so was busy reading some novel when I spotted this foreigner in her 40’s searching for her bed in the dormitory. I assured her she could own any bed she likes as there aren't much people around today.
After my meal, I was enjoying the sun bath when she joined in the place. She was dwelled into her own world capturing pictures of the surroundings and passing smile to herself for every shot. I found her little strange but I liked her attention for herself. Her looks had a sparkling enthusiasm or say her eyes were playing well to highlight youth in her matured face.
It was during tea time when I sat by her side co-incidentally on the same table she had taken place at. She waved me a welcome smile which was reciprocated warmly. I didn't feel like talking much after a calm meditation session so was just observing the surroundings. During our small conversation, she introduced herself a European from Sweden. She made sure to mention it was a small country nobody was aware of though I doubted if I wasn't. She confirmed she is here in India for a vacation and had been to this place last year for a 2 months stay. Well, I saluted her calmness for being able to survive at such kinda peaceful place for such a long time while I was feeling restless in few hours.
The real thing which made me talk about her was the man who joined us on the same table with his overflown cup of tea which created little mess on the table by his side. The European lady waved a welcome ‘hi’ to him as well and a little concern for the split tea. I didn't pay much attention until that grey eyed lady offered that man some napkins. Well, she might have got up to get herself something but she made sure to bring napkins for a stranger so as to help him clean the mess. This was a real peace of work worth appreciation. I would have never given a thought to welcome and cater a stranger with such genuine gestures.
Well, I shouldn't talk rough but we Indians are portrayed as “The Big Time Guest Caterers” with that funny phrase “Mehmaan bhagwan ka roop” but in actual, we are way too occupied with our Ruth ways to entertain strangers. The obvious reason is unfaithful and deceiving environment created through theft and malicious incidents. This European lady should have tried to keep herself safer than ourselves in our country for any kind of danger that can hamper her life but I’m happy to witness that politeness and warmness doesn't take much pain if is done out of generosity.
“Let’s be safe but not heartless to be thankful and helpful to small acts of selflessness. This will not only create a better ambiance around but a better YOU”
