Bella brown was drinking coffee when a girl entered. She was around 21-22 years.
“Hello I am Diana.” She introduced herself.
“Bella”. “Nice to meet you.”
“My brother Sam has gone mad. He is speaking something in some strange language. I want your help desperately. He is mentioning sarovar pur again and again. He wants to go there. I just want my brother back.”
“It is okay but have you consulted any psychologist. They may be helpful.”
“Yes I have consulted Ms Lucy Roy.”
“Diana according to my map Sarovar pur is near Chandigarh.”
“Okay so I am booking 4 tickets for Chandigarh”
“Four tickets?”
“Yes Bella one for you, two for me and Sam and one for Ms Roy.”
“Ok you better book the tickets before it is too late”
Diana left. Bella was worried. First time she was not confident on herself. She rushed to her father’s office. Her father listened to the case and supported her. She also asked her father to come with them. Mr George denied. He was really busy that day. He also suggested that Bella should try to solve cases all by herself from that time onwards.
Next day at 10 am they boarded the train. Next day they reached Chandigarh. They spent that night at Bella’s aunt’s house. Next morning they left for sarovar pur. Bella asked Sam to give direction to the taxi driver. Sam leaded them to a fort destroyed in ruins. He rushed to an empty room where only a shelf was there. Sam opened the shelf and took out one of his photo graph.
Then all of them checked into a hotel. Sam and Diana was in room no 132 ,Ms Lucy in 133 and Bella in131. Sam went to sleep. After that all the others gathered in Bella’s room.
Ms Roy said “Diana your brother is not completely mad but is mentally disturbed. If you see the photo closely then it is not his photo at all. Sam has imagined a place like this. Someone must have told him about this fortress. Rest was just a coincidence. Bella you are a detective. You must have noticed.”
“What Ms Lucy?”
“Bella someone was trying to kill Sam. Someone had pointed a gun towards him. That is the reason I suggested that we should go. Diana, Sam is sick. I have asked Madhuri (My sister) to come here to help you with the case. She is a detective. Diana, Sam and I will be going to Chandigarh tomorrow. I have a branch there. I will try to cure Sam. I have already booked the tickets.”
Next day Madhuri arrived and others left for Chandigarh. Bella and Madhuri went to the fortress to investigate.
“Madhuri, All that I can tell is that the person had asthma”
“How can you tell that didi?”
“The person has left his pipe.”
“That was a man. The pipe belongs to Pipers Company where they have different pipe for men and for women. This is a men’s pipe. The person came here recently. I can still smell his perfume.”
“Didi I think we should wait. He would come again.”
Madhuri was right. The person came again. They couldn’t figure out who he was. They finally went back to the hotel to take rest.
Next day they went to the pipe’s company. They told that only 6 persons from that locality use that pipe. They gave the list to them. They returned to the hotel and slept. Next day Madhuri saw that Bella was not in the room. Madhuri became very scared. She was about to inform the police when Bella came with a man and a police officer.
“Didi what is this. Please explain.”
“Madhuri, yesterday night after you had slept I had gone to the fortress and saw this man and another man were fighting with sword. This man was badly wounded and was bleeding. Some blood had fallen on the path. After they went I took the sample and sent it for a forensic test. Today morning the report came that blood group was o . I took out a survey of the report and saw that out of the six persons suffering from asthma only this man has blood group o . According to my judgement this person must be the culprit.”
“Didi, why didn’t you wake me up before going?”
“Madhuri you have fever. Your forehead feels warm”
“Tell the truth Mr Richards.”
“I hate you detectives. I wanted to kill Sam because he knows our secret. Our ancestors left their wealth to us. We have hidden it in this fortress. Sam has a unique disease. He knows our fortress from top to bottom so we decided to kill him.”
“To whom did that wealth belong to?”
“To our ancestors”
“Where have you kept them?”
“It is a secret”. “Only Sam knows it”
“You want to kill Sam only because of that?”
“Yes, we want to keep it a secret”
“How do you think, Sam got to know about your fortress?”
“Sam has a disease.”
Bella and Madhuri went back to the hotel. (After taking the culprits to the police)
“Madhuri why were the persons keeping their wealth as a secret”
“Didi the wealth must be stolen.”
“I also think so. Let us first talk to Dr Lucy.”
They called up Dr Lucy.
“Hello, Dr Lucy.”
“Hi how is Madhuri doing?”
“Well. What about Sam”
“He is fine. By the way he had made a map of the interior of the castle. This may be helpful to you.”
“Yes it will surely be.”
“Ok please fax it.”
“Okay surely I will fax it. Bye”
Next day Bella and Madhuri went inside the castle with the map and discovered the box of money. On the box it was written ‘GOVERNMENT PROPERTY’. Bella and Madhuri opened the box and found that it was the money that someone stole from government in 1967. There was a diary. Madhuri said “Didi read before they come from their temple.”
7th September
Dear diary
Today I stole the govt property of rs 1000 crore. I am happy that I could leave so much money for my son and daughter. Now I have to rush, police must be looking for me.
Dagwood
“Dagwood the famous thief!”Madhuri exclaimed
They called the police and got them arrested. Then they went back to Chandigarh to meet Ms Lucy.
“Ms Lucy”.” What about Sam?” Bella asked
“He is all right.” “Please tell Madhuri and Diana to come to my room with you.”
“Anyone must have told him about this fortress. He has imagined a fortress and Diana told me that she lived in Chandigarh and also that Sam and her dad had visited Sarovarpur once. He must have seen the interior from the window, rest was just a coincidence. Just do not think about it.”
“Ms Lucy what about the language in which Sam was speaking”
“That language? Here see this is the secret code of the people of the fortress.”
“Oh, yes I am so happy that my brother is all right”
