They came by sea that fateful day
with something important to say
rucksack on back, one goal on mind
obliterate anyone not their kind.

Bursting into hotel lobby
dotting many a foreign dignitary
bullets fired, people scattered
bloodied bodies never really mattered.

Total mayhem now at various points
shooting reported at many joints
mad men at the rail station
unleashing terror, watched the nation.

In shallow ditch, lay a young girl
so still, in terrified curl
meters away,toting gun stood he
she didn't move, he didn't see.

Crawling, she reached other end
rescued by one, her Godsend
sigh of relief, couldn't believe
that she, my friend, would live.

Chaos supreme at city hospital
everywhere an eerie lull
brave officer found dead in tussle
for none of his men moved a muscle.

Hotel now aflame
smoke billowing from every frame
some ran, some shot
few waved, desperate help they sought.

Horrifying drama now well over
our security standards much lower
all rogues dead, except one
a valiant cop had this done.

Headlines screamed, nation cried
every community on one side
candles lit, tears shed
couldn't bring them from the dead.

Lone man now a trophy
costing crores our democracy
he languishes years in jail
Justice will surely prevail.
