All religions started with spirit of enquiry and were unifying tools to keep the members of a community together. This is a noble and desirable objective. But as you know, in every society, there are elements who, in order to gain power and wealth, sow seeds of hatred in their own community as well as between communities. If you read history which, I believe, you must have done in some degree, you will know how such ideas have led to riots, religious wars and other kinds of day-to-day conflicts. These always bring in their wake untold sufferings to children, women and men. This is how religion has worked for greater length of recorded history. You have to know this, because then only, you can think of steps to mitigate them.
