Deadly and feared, the popular reptiles called snakes have long made a reputation for themselves around the world. There are two types of snakes; Constrictors and 'strikers'. I am gonna write about the second category...
'Strikers', these are snakes that do not constrict their prey during hunting, but instead inject a highly toxic venom, that help to incapacitate the prey and kill it quickly.
Rattlesnakes are some of the most dangerous and beautiful snakes in the world, though the species are found in the Americas. They range throughout the continent from Argentina to Canada. There are about 32 known species of rattlesnakes, consisting of several more sub-species.
The name rattlesnake, refer to the rattle found at the end of the snake, which it vibrate to make a sound, serving as a signal to send away predators. They prey mostly on rodents and birds, an action which helps stabilize the population of rodents. Rattlesnakes have venom, which can destroy tissues and sometimes even paralyses the prey.
Several snakes bites from the diamondback rattlesnake occur annually in North America. Though Rattlesnakes generally avoid contact with humans and open spaces where they are much unable to prevent attacks from natural predators such as hawks, there have been cases where the victims(humans) who saw them rattlesnakes, did not move away. Thus causing them to strike, as they do whenever they feel threatened.
Victims, though have been cured in almost all cases, have known to die due to the toxic poison injected in their body. These snakes, which were once abundant and only fell prey to their natural predators, have been threatened to extinction by humans, who hunt them or kill them, or due to habitat destruction.
