Just give it a thought. Its short and simple.
This idea can solve the problem of all lighting problems world over. This project is the brainchild of my childhood brain when I was in class 8th.
The idea is very simple. The earth is round and is rotates on its own axis for some reason. So there is day in almost half of the wold when the other half is dark. What if we can transfer the light falling on one part of the world to where there is night? We can do away with the need for electricity in street lamps and other lighting appliances. This can be done using optical fibers. We anyway don't need too much light during nights. Just a little bit of what we have during the day.
I think of the time 50 years from now when all the fossil fuels will be gone and electricity will be costly enough to make this solution cheap. Optical fibers don't cost recursively and the maintenance cost is very low and it lasts long.
