When Faisal Khan stepped on the stage of DID little masters, he looked promising. His moves were way too clean and swift for a thirteen year kid. He can grab your attention in seconds. His attitude will give you the impression of a cool kid who dribbles his way out of the house in the evening to play basketball with his friends and then returns home to his Xbox 360. Only, the reality of his world is totally different. He is the son of an auto-driver who earns enough for two meals a day and yet pays his son's dance fees. For a moment you are dumbstruck! How is that even possible? And then it strikes you... Wonder what the kid goes through when he sees his dad shell out half his earning for his dream? And so innocence bargains with ambition and hard work. When he calls his nervous dad on the stage, tears betray him. And when you see tears in such eyes, you want to smack poverty right into the face. You want it to fuck off and die! The pain you feel just by watching him in tears on the stage is nothing compared to what he goes through everyday. Faisal's is just one story. Just peep out of your window. You'll see many such stories littered on the road.
one among several others...
In the hustle and bustle of your life, most of the times the poor hungry children running around on the road go unnoticed by you. The fading light of innocence in there tiny twinkling eyes goes unnoticed by you. You'll glance at them but thousands of other whims and notion rule your mind to allow them to be a part of it just then. But they do. They look at you and wish they had what you have today, three complete meals a day and a school uniform like the one you finally discarded. You will envy the guy on the next block for his PlayStation or the ostentatious whatever car it is, or the cool sneakers or the sexy shirt but all that the poor ragged kids wish for is only a part of what you have. Some of them know that if given a chance they can be better than you or any IPS officer. And yet again poverty smiles its evil smile. And when kids like Faisal make it big, you know you can smack any adversity real hard... any adversity, right into the face! Wonderful how at times kids can inspire you and put you to shame at the same time!
