Recently i was reading a newspaper. Not that it is a rare event but there was something rare which made me think offensively towards a section of people . Anger cum pity and a mixed reaction accompanied. Reading about hanging debate which discussed that capital punishment's abolishment should be sanctioned or not was debated wildly.
A man put forward that ours is a land of Buddha and Gandhi . And also we take pride in our culture. Now now now Mr. random guy..!. hello?. Lord Buddha roamed and preached this land two thousand years .Gandhi lived 60 years ago . I do not believe in Gandhi ,neither i pray to lord Buddha. Culture Oh .. Please !
In these modern times try taking the name of gandhi ,buddha or any peace loving man for that matter when the burglar has you at it's knife point .Or when your (i mean the guy that commented in newspaper specifically) sister , mother or a friend is molested or unappropriately touched in a bus in front of ,try to console them by presenting this argument. I am sure you and your molested someone would sit under a banyan tree and chant OM Namah Shivay ! and forget it all. Even if she gets raped ...try the same conversation of lord buddha and gandhi and whatever it means by cultural pride bullshit.
According to a survey India is at number one list for Most dangerous countries for women. In the last three months the women tourists have declined shockingly at a rate of 35 percent . The reason every one knows. Nymphomaniacs and Paedophiles are on the rise.Security is the biggest biggest question. If it is not in the papers regulalry ,has it vanished.? 3 year old or a 30 year old ,no child or woman is being spared. Families are being destroyed , lives ruined , but no mr. we only say we are proud of our culture. Ours is a land of Gandhi and Buddha . Which culture are we talking about in this context or any context i have no idea but it seems a nice words and ensures a success while making a point.
Living by reminiscing the glory of the past does not remove or cover the realities of today. Covering a rotten apple in a red sheet does not make it a healthy one. Ignorance is the key to destruction . And if people are promoting it by taking the names of god and mahatmas dead a century ago ,the society is doomed.
