Respected mam
I have become your fan and am constantly following your articles . Whenever I am in doubt about the various opinions about the current affairs and controversies which have become a feast for our news anchors, I head towards two people. Previously i headed towards a very respected Journo Ms. Shoma Choudhay ,Tehelka . I respect her way of dealing with problems without aggression and giving it proper thought and anlyzing thoroughly. And now i also follow you ..Tavleen Singh , Indian Express.
Your way of writing made me think and express my thoughts and opinions fearlessly as you did without being reckless ,which i held back sometimes at occasions. I discussed your book with my friends . Your book apart from telling me the details intricately also revealed facts (which i need not mention ,you wrote them , just expressing !) about which i never cared about living in my own country .It was an eye opener for a novice in the field of political history knowledge. And being a young voter it made me realize the importance of voting intelligently .
People from your generation do not usually come forward and commit that yes we made a mistake by making India what it is. You are like a torch bearer among them who is and was different . I have always seen older generation as being pompous ,arrogant . They sometimes remind me of dialogue said by Gandalf talking about the Kings of old being lost into obscurity. Our older generation reminisces of how their days were cheap and now blame the politicians and price rise. My point is you are the hero as I see in the bigger sense.
I wish there was a society like the Oxford Union debating society in India. Because I have my peers to talk about politics and complain. But I have found none among the elders who is ready to talk without getting offended or reminding my status as his younger one. That is why my fingers are pouring sentence after sentence in a letter which was intended as a fan mail.
I hope you understand my position as a youth of this country who intends to make it a better place.
