Mr President,
I am writing this letter from India. Since the Indian Government has not taken a firm stand in the world stage for a trusted friend, I, as a common citizen of India want to convey my thoughts to you directly. The Indian people support your stand in Crimea and Ukraine. The Western efforts to encircle and strangle Russia by expanding eastwards must be stopped. I agree with the comments you made a few years ago that America has largely stepped out of it's boundaries. This entire crisis reflects the hypocrisy of the Western Governments, who I believe forced an unnecessary regime change in Ukraine.
The fact that the Indian government remains ambiguous disappoints me greatly. Russia came to our aid in 1971 when the US sent an aircraft carrier to our shores. And it was Russia who helped build our military after our independence in 1947. The government here is going through a transition phase hence, it might be the reason of our official ambiguous stand. But the people have not forgotten the past. Alexander III once said, " Russia has only two friends: its Army and its Navy." I want to add the Indian people(not the current government) as the third friend of Russia. When it comes to a situation where the Indian people have to choose between Russia and The West, the consensus in India will always remain Pro-Russian.
Finally, I want to congratulate you on bringing Crimea back to Russia. I hope the people of Crimea find new prosperity after joining the Russian Federation.
