I still remember the little bird
That used to come to my window pane
It had a small nest and parents
On a tree down the lane.
It used to come every morning
Without fail
It was red in colour
And had a beautiful tail
I used to store some
Food like grain and seed
So that the next day
To him I could feed
Alas! One day it didn’t
Come to greet me
It was no where around
As far as I could see
Days passed by
Morning to night
I waited patiently
But it didn’t come to my sight
I asked about the tree to a man
“The govt. People have cut it to build a house.” He said
When I asked about the birds he replied
“To be safe, they have fled.”
I am angry on them
For a friend I have lost them
I will never forgive them
At any cost
