The newspaper article's headlines caught my attention this morning. It described how intolerant Bangalore hubbies have been killing their spouses of late.
Just because she earned better than him. Or because she refused to 'like' his parents.
A woman was stabbed seventy four times. He suspected an affair.
Are these hard core criminals?
No. Actually brilliant techies, maybe stressed out by their high pressure jobs, cut throat competition, frenzy of keeping up with the Joneses, too much ambition...
with the helpless wives naturally becoming easy pawn in the game.
Now why would well educated men stoop to do such a terrible thing?
Why would they be intolerant of their wives successful careers?
It's time men of this nation take a good introspective look within themselves. I mean, it's easy for a man to watch his girl friend/female colleague excel him at work.
But the moment she becomes his wife..? His mood changes.
He gets suspicious, envious..entirely ridiculous.
Why is he still under that age old notion..that his wife is supposed to be inferior to him?
Why has his education NOT changed him one bit?
Is it some kind of phobia he suffers from?
I think it's just his super inflated male EGO.
High time he changes.

74 stabs don't come from intolerance, it might come from a mind which was highly agitated, most probably the reason being the affair but who knows? even then one could opt for a divorce rather taking someone's life.
Men are touchy about trust issue, be it a friend or wife, when the trust thing is messed with the anger is unfathomable.
I think once marriages and brought out of the 'made for each other' mode and possibility of breaking the bond is open , this kind of things will depart.
