Anger is a very common emotion which if becomes so extreme that we lose self-control, it is said that we are in a rage. It’s rightly said by John Webster that “There is not in nature, a thing that makes man so deformed, so beastly, as doth intemperate anger.” Most people over-react to situations and get easily ruffed-up about trivial issues. Unfortunately these people don’t focus on the solutions. They only focus on the problems; as a result that makes a solution much harder to find.
It takes a new intelligence to manage our emotions and to understand that we are the master controller of our reactions, no matter what the circumstances may be. One of the best lessons to learn in life is how to master anger and remain calm and “just say no” to emotional reactions..
It is said that anger is the most impotent passion that accompanies the mind of man. When you are angry, the best thing to do is to say nothing. Another good technique is to stop and ask yourself “Is it really important?” or “Does it really matter?” This may change your perception and allow you to react with clear thought, and with much less personal emotional reaction. So if we can’t express it or repress it indulge not in the passion of anger.
This quote by Daniel Defoe applies here “The height of human wisdom is….to make calm within, under the weight of the greatest storm without.”
