Lost in words

When the night is dark, inside and out,
You are lost in your mind, dreaming aloud,
When the cold moist air dampens your thoughts,
And your body burns, against all you have got,

Sleep is abducted, by all the words that don't rhyme,
You say it's OK, when you are far from fine
You gasp in some air, to choke out smoke,
Against a canvas, painting gray heart that broke,

Swallow the lump in the throat, close your eyes,
It's been a long day, and your tears have dried,
Clutch in your heart, I know the poison that you drank,
It will kill you slowly, and the page will be blank.
