"Life is a song" someone has said this about life and when Sid thought about it he realised as if the person was referring to his life. No where he thought it could relate more than to his own life. His entire life could be captured essentially in songs so fantastically written by lyricists over the years of Hindi cinema. As he reflected on his past it became all the more clear that every lyricist was somehow conspiring to depict Sid's life in his song. And with this thought he doomed to his early days on this earth.
Sid thought how , when he was just a child, " Tjhe Suraj kaho ya Tara , mera naam krega roshan jag mei mera raj dolara" would play in the background when his father used to lift him in the air for caress and love. That he would have to make his father proud was settled way back by the background score at his home. He remembered how his whole family would sing together " ek dosre se karte h pyaar hum , ek dosre k liye bekrar hum " , the values have been delivered to him meticulously. His next encounter with songs was on special occasion , his birthday , when everyone was rhyming " hum bhi agar bacche hote, naam humara hota babloo daploo, khaane ko milte laddoo , to hum bhi khete happy bd'y to you". No birthday celebration were complete without this ritual.
Sid had watched and listened to various songs on first crush and love at first sight but could not comprehend the meaning of any of them until Pia entered his class. For the first time ht realised what " Phela nasha phela khuamr , naya pyaar h naya intezaar , krlo mei kya apna haal" meant and why Aamir Khan would role on grass while singing it. He so wished he could say to Pia what Shilpa Shetty was saying to Sharukh " Kitabe bhaut si padhi hogi tumne , magar koi chehra kya tumne padha hai" . Moreover his heart was saying " humme tum se pyaar kitna ye hum nhi jaante , magar jee nhi skte tmhre bina". But then not everything goes as we wish and hope.
He remembered clearly how all that got converted into " ohh palan haare nirgun ohh nayare tmhre bin humara kauno nhi " during exams and parent teachers meeting and he remembered how "allah k bande hass de , jo bhi ho kal phr aayega " was the consoling voice during results and when he did not get through certain papers. But the one part of his life which was undoubtedly taken from the songs was still to come.
Nowhere it seemed to Sid the logic of "life in songs" was more applicable then his college life. The college life started by "papa khete h bada naam krega , beta humara aesa kaam krega " . Enjoying the freedom of bunking classes and dress code it became " yahan k hum sikender , chahe to rakh le sbko apni jeb k andar" and " dil chahta hai , kabhi na beten chamikle din " . And when he saw Ishita for the first time in college canteen " Ek ldki ko dekha to aesa laga , jaise khilta gulab" made all the sense to him.
Afraid of any rush at things that might ruin his chances he adopted " haule haule ho jaayega pyaar" as his strategy and " aaj din chadiya tere ishaq da, phool sa hai khila aaj dil " as its repentance against all the waiting . When his somewhat small talks with Ishita finally took place " baaten kuch an kahi si hone lagi , kaboo dil pe rha na hasti humari khone lagi" was what he was now remembering. His mind then went on to the path where it reached when after the joy of silliness he was clouded by the seclusion of pain and " tanhai tanhai , meelo hai Pheli hui tanhai" was what the situation became. The college ended with " hum rhe na rhe kal, pal yaad aayenge ye pal".
Sid smiled as he thought how he could just replace every incident of his life with a song and wondered whether it was just his life or everyone's else which had experienced the same thing . But without giving it any further thought hr remembered what he would really like to do.... And quite easily even that could be replaced with a song . All he wanted was
" mei zindagi ka saath nibhata chla gya , har fikr ko dhuan mei udata chla gya " ....
