Well, you will be wondering who is this murkha manushya who is talking in such a manner. I am a girl. Ever heard of the species? People say you made us. No, I don’t think so because you don’t care about us, do you?
Well, I have news for you. A girl was gang raped brutally. Brings tears to my eyes even while reading about it in newspaper. Males are made by you, aren’t they? Guess what? They are turning into animals. Some months ago, our so called Honourable Home Minister carelessly announced the names of 3 rape victims when it is a crime to do so. Various snide comments were passed by our leaders on “status of women” which clearly shows how much they care about women of their own country. Maybe if their sisters, daughters, wives are raped or murdered they would finally understand. Not that I want them raped or anything. I would not wish that even for my worst enemy. I may not believe in your existence but I am not that bad, you see. I am a girl. Girls are good. Hence, I am a good girl.
So, what I was saying? Yes, they just don’t care! People say its pichle janam’s paaps which are making us suffer. Did you steal something? Beware; in the next life you might get raped! Or wait...do women only do all the paap in the world? After all, we are the only ones to suffer here! Rapes, murders, sati, female infanticide, harassment...what not...you name it.
And you know what our government is doing, as I read in newspaper (HT) that day, making glass cabins! Yes! And as long as we are in there, we are safe. But is this the equality we are asking for? NO. They are introducing a "women only bank". What are we going to do with it? Safe deposition of school going girls from getting raped? Or putting the compensation the family of the raped girl gets in it? We are just asking to be loved and respected. Is that too much to ask for?
But, you know God, we are standing up for ourselves.Yes, we are. There are so many instances where women came together and overcame the male dominancy in our patriarchal society. So many examples you will get of women will and power.
Unfortunately that is not the only picture in our society because still the woman suffers in households. Abused, beaten and the list goes on and on. In such dreadful situations shouldn’t men stand by us in our quest? Shouldn’t they learn the lessons of equality? Is asking for so much is also too much?
You know whats the best punishment for the rapists? Chop off their “tools”. Maybe then they will realise their mistakes and then will complain, “O, God! What have you done?” And then you can say “Hey, don’t tell me, you brought it upon yourselves.” Should I expect some change, some action after this letter of mine?
Hey Goddess Durga. We are of same species. Ditto. Maybe you can do something for us. You can make a small gang of Goddesses and come down on earth and slay the rakshasas. Excellent opportunity, I am telling you. Maybe you can also bring along your 6 to 7 arms with weapons and all. Don’t worry; you will not be stopped with all this weapons anywhere, not even at airports if you are planning to use it. Hardly any security.
