The Rs.181000 crores Coal Gate scam, the Rs.176000 crores 2G Spectrum Scam, and the Rs.65000 crores CWG (Common Wealth Games) scam are the biggest financial scams in independent India's recorded history. Scams of smaller denominations (1ooo-10 crores) are on-going projects and the fastest channels to become "Bada Aadmi". But they do not become talk of the town, may be because many government servants, media persons and others in the private sector are involved. In 21st century India, 1 crore scam is no scam at all. But, 1 crore is big money for one who is suffering from the "sickness" called Imandari!
These 3 scams put together add up to INR422000 crores or $70.3333 Billions at the present exchange rate of $1 = INR60. If the above scam money is distributed equally among India's population of 125 crores (approximately), every person gets Rs.3376/-. Taking a typical family size of 5, amount every Indian family will get works out to Rs.16880/-. Now the point I want to drive home and emphasize here is: how many Indian families living and working in India have monthly income of Rs.16000/- or more?
