Okayy...so the new addiction I have been unable to unhook myself from is Pak dramas.Damn!they are addictive, not my fault(yes,I know Fawad hot-jawline Khan is also one contributing factor but but....)..So,having watched a few sitcoms, thanks to the newly launched channel Zindagi,i couldnt help feel shamed on the crap we have been making and ofcourse serving for years now on Indian television.
So,just for fun AND to make you guys also spot the difference between the two,let me present to you 5 points that would say it all -
1.In the show Zindagi Gulzar Hai,the protagonists Zaroon and Kashaf cant stand each other, blame it on their class difference etcetra.Had it been in Indian tv,they would have been bumping into each other, hurling abuses and accuses at each other, would "accidentally" get locked somewhere, slip into each other's arms on a plain floor bla bla just cus they r the leads and supposed to fall in love.Blah!
But ZGH showed real sense, where two people who dont get along try to stay away from each other. The feeling of falling in love happens gradually not instantly by falling into each other's eye gazes rather!
2.The upper class or the riches in Pak shows are unlike Indian Ambanis.Had it been any Indian show, the hero would be easily introduced handling some meeting and talking of "hundred crores" with such casualness that would put even Tata Birlas to shame! I loved it that the Pak shows arerelatable, the women in upper class do not necessarily need to be evil, looking down upon every middle class person.
3.Third i would focus on MAKEUP!Well.......the way they do it in our shows in India does really confuses me between the Heroes and Villains!Who the hell dresses like that in real life, huhh?Ladies wearing those 10kg jhumkas and sets, where even the poorest of poor ladies wear those banarsi sarees in the nightwear! What's the word for it...ummm...BULLSHIT!Real simple ways of dressing, least of makeup in the Pak dramas-talking of stories of normal people of Earth!
4.And ofcourse, the Pak shows have a definite no of episodes,say,23-25.No matter how much hit it is,the story,at the end has to make sense, unlike Indian dramas where even the Baas live for some 250 years!By the time the show wraps up,we dont even remember what was the basic storyline of it!
5.And last but not the least,ROMANCE <3 The couple in every goddamn Indian serial at some point of time, when angry with each other,or when they get married and are not in love with each other, one sleeps on the bed, other on the couch!Hello???Does that solve the problem fickleheads?!
So, to sum up,either our Indian soaps need BIG transitions or we need more channels like Zindagi to bring back us to senses with shows like Maat,Zindagi Gulzar Hai,Humsafar.....
If you havent watched already,i urge you to give an hour of yours.Youtube it,watch just any one episode of any show you like by the look of it,I promise you wont regret cuz its the story that progresses in them not the clothes and heavy duty dialogues!

On one hand we have shows like sasural simar ka and stuff like that. And they have Mere qatil..
Idiot box isn't really idiot if you're watching zindagi ;)
The best part is that it brings the Indians closer to the Pakistani way of living. Its so so important for peace between two the nations.
