The day finally arrived. There were already so many people this morning. Daddy had arranged another set of chairs outside and parked his car alongside the road. The ceremony should be starting at around noon.
With tears in her eyes, my grandma was brushing my hair and adding white flowers. Mom was inconsolable so she couldn’t. My friends soon arrived; Shania, Kate, Lucy, Oliver, Ethan, Jey, Victor and much more. Yeah I made loads of friends. In fact I consider my friends as my family whom I love much more than my own family. I was definitely overjoyed to see them. However, they were all in tears and utterly shocked. I tried reassuring them but in vain. It was nearly noon and everybody was in a deplorable state while I was hopelessly trying to comfort them.
So many questions left unanswered, I wish I could give them an answer. ‘’Why she had to go?’’ ‘’She was always so happy and smiling.’’ ‘’What made her do this?’’ ‘’She was a strong girl so what became her weakness?’’
Jey sat beside me and tears was falling uncontrollably down his cheeks. ‘’I couldn’t save you. You’ve hurt me so much. What was it that you wanted but couldn’t get that you had to go away? Why you left me alone?’’
I caressed his cheek. He was looking so sad stricken and forlorn. He was frozen in place as he felt my presence which was quite a surprise to me. Then, I remembered our heart connection and smiled.
‘’Sweetheart, I wanted my freedom. I can fly now and no one will ever stop me. I am happy and will always be with you. Don’t be sad.’’
It was exactly noon and the people got ready to start the cremation.
I hugged him and took one last glance at my house before flying into the sky.
My name is Alex and I committed suicide at the age of eighteen.
