Everyone suffers from head aches every now and then.
But what are head aches or any pain for that matter?
It's just electrical signals sent to the brain from the body, which we choose to interpret as pain.
Is it really that simple?
Yes and no. The cause of the pain can we varying but the interpretation is still the same. In short it's pain only if you say so.
Some one taught me this and it's worked like magic. And if it were just a placebo effect I would have dismissed it, but it seems it work for a lot of people.
All you need is a minute and some faith. So here is what you do.
Close your eyes and try to calm down.
Feel the feeling that you are experiencing (what you think is pain)
Describe it to yourself, not as pain but what it actually feels like. Usually it's like a pressure, or tugging, or plain sensation. Anything will do, as long as you don't call it pain.
Now feel what you are really feeling. Not pain but a sense of pressure or tugging or whatever it is.
Lo and Behold! Your pain is GONE.
How it works
All you are doing is stopping your brain from interpreting the sensation as pain. As the brain no longer recognises the feeling as pain, you stop feeling the pain!
If you try this at first and doesn't seem to work, don't be disheartened, try over again. Once you get good at it, you wont even need to close your eyes! You'll be able to do this in seconds!
I sincerely hope this helps you, and if it does teach it to people around you.
You can choose to see this as a mind-trick, mind over matter, some mojo-jumbo, or plain old screwing with you brain. I choose to see it as "something that works" and it's good enough for me.
