This is just a fictitious article . It has no resemblance with any of the present devices or any reference to any devices or concepts. It is just a random creative idea that struck me recently. I usually don't share such thoughts but I thought of giving it a try this time.
Some might find this article to be a bit technical but I've tried avoiding technical jargons as much as possible for the sake of clarity and well understandability.
Imagine you have a remote like device on finger to operate all your electronic devices . It'll have only one button to operate and that'll be a button used in BlackBerry phones (center button which is used for left-right and up-down navigation as well as for performing selections ) which are touch sensitive( touch sensitive in the sense , the more quickly you rub your finger the more scrolling it does vertically or horizontally) and press-able(to make selections like hitting Enter on keyboard and single press on your touch phones) as well. Using this SmartRing (that is what I would like to call it) you can control your devices . If you have used BlackBerry phones you will know how functional and productive those buttons are. You can do almost anything unless you don't need to type or text.
Suppose you are browsing Facebook feed on your PC or say tablet or Xbox or even on your Mobile phones and you have this SmartRing , you can view everything on the go without having to lift your hands and and moving your fingers. Just touch your thumb on your index finger (this is where your SmartRing is suppose to be present) and you can scroll the whole page and do simple stuffs like Liking, Sharing , Deleting , Reporting and anything that doesn't involve typing or texting . We know most of the things on web and devices work on a press or single touch , keeping that in mind ,you need not move your hands and fingers from one place to another provided you own a device like this. This device can work on Bluetooth or WiFi as communication medium, to make it faster and more easily accessible and usable.
Imagine a day when Home Automation devices are more widely used. All your home appliances can be controlled with this one tiny device. You can switch off and on your ACs , Fans, Refrigerators , Ovens, Washing Machines or anything you see in your house. In days when technology is taking a distant leap , lifting and moving your fingers and hands to get your job done is too expensive and effortful activity to demand from users. Making people's life as easy as technology can afford and manage is what is required at the end of the day . Those days are not far when mobile phones will become obsolete and you'll just wear a Smart Glasses (which will be your primary screen for viewing things) on your eye and control it using one such tiny device without doing hefty and costly activities like you do currently to control your mobile phones.
It becomes very tedious to manage and control your mobile phones in places like long queues or in trains where you barely get to make any body movements ( at least in heavily populated cities like Mumbai and Delhi) or places which restrict body movements . Now suppose you have this device. You are wearing some Google glass like wearable and have this SmartRing like device on you finger and are stuck in very crowded train where you barely get to lift your hands , just imagine how convenient and comfortable this device might make your life at that instant. Though I've mentioned this device's advantages for this particular situation , it can be useful in almost all situations of life. Like consider you are driving and you want to use your Car navigation, isn't it too cumbersome when you need to actually lift your hands to reach your navigation device's touch screen or even utter some sentences which God knows will be understood by that device or not , to control it ?
Now this SmartRing comes into play again. You can touch that ring on your first finger with your thumb and scroll and select from the list of options to get the job done. It can prove meritorious in all walks of life. Also for instance it can be used as your music switch when you are playing songs on your headphones. Up-down navigation can be used to switch between the songs.
It's highlighting feature is that it takes advantage of scrolling and selection activities , which you do most of the time on your phone or PC or TV while browsing webpages or channels. On an average you do these things 60-70% if the time.
Only thing you need to get this working is display screen which is obligatory for most of the activities but it can be used for activities like controlling home appliances without additional display screens. This idea might have some flaws but has numerous merits.

I didn't expect any takers for this article at first because people here are too obsessed with articles on love and relationships.
Anyway keeping that aside do you know about the Google's Prototype Car that was showcased recently. It was fully automated. You need to select your destination on the map and just press start button to get it started.
The glass have a touch sensor at the right side of the glass frame and that does everything for you, just like the blackberry center ball. But the more amazing thing about the glass is that you can give instructions by just saying things ... no need to even touch. And the accuracy of interpretation of command is amazing. Your phone would be kept at some distance and you can just say "call gabbar" and it would call the person with name Gabbar from your contact list. How cool is that.
