Delhi is known to me a little bit, I know it distantly since last 15 years, have spent quite a few years here, yet I am still not a Delhiite.
Have read so much about this city in recent past; our rape capital seems to have established herself firmly among national as well as international media. A recent incident where the girl clicked the photograph of the culprit and posted it on social media kept the the promise alive of this city to the world that 'yes I am what I am & I am no good'.
Cab drivers incidences have been posted on the social media with much appreciation and great support. It shows our empowered modern day journalism.
When everybody is talking about the shitty males of Delhi, I have rather a different impression of them which makes them as good or as bad as males across the world. I work at a place with male majority, I travel with male driven cab and autos everyday, I travel in metro train four times as full of its capacity without bothering to sit in a coach reserved for ladies.
Over all these days I have met some great men at my workplace, they are good leaders as well as nice team members. Cab drivers have actually made my life easier so many times by finding out right routes on their own, asking people for help. Auto drivers never yelled about money in recent past and in Metro trains I always got a place to stand comfortably in the general coaches no matter how populated they were.
It has been good so far, I guess either majority of the people have always been that good or Delhi males are trying their best to improve upon their shady image, whatever it is, results are positive.
I condemn all the harassment; mental & physical that has happened to women across the world( I say it because I know it is not specific to Delhi) and I really appreciate that women have actually learned to report, to give back and to fight. Modern resources have given women a freedom to escape from the lengthy bureaucratic processes. Yet I know all this change has been supported by so many good men in our lives; fathers, brothers, husbands, sons, colleagues and all those to whom we meet in the daily course of our lives. I proudly say Delhi males are decent and they are trying their best to overhaul their tarnished identity! Amen
