It was dark monsoon season in Burdwan(West Bengal, India) and it was raining heavily. There was a small village of fisherman and farmers in Burdwan district. All villagers were inside their houses, resting and preparing for the night. Nobody was wandering on the road but for a few people who just closed their shops for the day and were rushing towards their respective homes.
About, one kilometer away from the village there was a gathering of 6 people. They had spades in their hands and large carry bags. Nobody in villages knew what they were doing in this heavy rain. The group of people was standing over there, like they are awaiting for order from someone. Suddenly, they started moving towards the village's graveyard. After reaching there, all of them kneeled down and started a small prayer, it was like they were about to do something very sinful, may be murdering somebody. Maybe they just came over to bury a relative who died that day, but in that case there must have been more people(than the size of the group), a dead body, and lots of crying etc. All of these were missing, indicating that something illegal was going on.
After finishing the prayer they all scattered themselves in the graveyard and started searching for something. Suddenly one of them stopped at one of the graves which was just few days old because the soil over was it not so tight and started digging it out. Meanwhile, other five people also started digging. Nobody could guess what they were upto. But after about 15 to 20 minutes of digging they came with something very shocking, it was the bones of dead people. They were digging carefully so as to not disturb the skeletons in the graves. One after another they were digging out the all body parts of the skeleton in the grave and were detaching remains of muscles and tendons which were still attached to the skeleton. After they finished digging and collecting bones from the graves they just filled all the grave as same as it was before. Some of them had got a complete skeleton and some had got only big bones of a human body. Now they started filling all the bones in the bags they had. After 10 minutes a truck arrived and they loaded all the big bags with bones in the truck. It continued to rain incessantly and the only sounds that could be heard were that of the rain and the thunders in the sky. One man got out of the van and gave some money to all six people.
The truck rushed to a warehouse and after it reached, two workers came upto the truck to collect and put all the carry bags in the warehouse. One man started opening the bags one after another and emptied the contents into a chemical tank. In the warehouse there were one big room full of bones, it was like a Bone Factory. After two days all the bones would be dried in open air and delivered to the main agent representing their customers.
It was smuggling of human bones to other countries and medical institutions. Even some monasteries buy these bones to use them in their rituals. Nobody knows where we will go after death.
