She died.
She is no more.
The monsters have been sentenced to death(except the juvenille who I pray does not get released in December.)
They have no shame.
They have no regrets.
They don't realize it yet.
They still have answers to any questions put to them.
They still have the guts to face the cameras.
They still can look into the eyes of people.
They still can breathe.
They are still alive.
More importantly, They DON'T THINK THEY WERE WRONG.
In the past two years, we have seen several more. Thanks to the light of Jyoti,Nirabhaya, they were recognized, brought to notice, and actioned upon after that.
But why don't we see them diminishing by any amount? They still happen. Those common looking people with all those monstrous intentions are still roaming around among us. THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED.
Do I need to mention that we're definitely doing something wrong?
What we did against the damned bastards, was not enough.
We, all of us. After watching the BBC documentary, the thought that was constantly crossing my mind was : WE NEED A SUPERHERO. SPIDERMAN, SUPERMAN, anyone will do God. Send someone.
But that's not possible, is it? Unfortunately, it isn't.
So I make an appeal to everyone of us, to all.
Promise yourselves, make a vow, take an oath, give it any word that motivates you enough to be the SUPERHERO we desperately need among us.
The Superhero who will :
--> NEVER ALLOW any discrimination against women to happen in front of her/him. Mind you, that ranges from, "he will not do the dishes because he is a boy" to what led to the documentary.
--> Stand up for her, with her.
--> Will not let your minds be clouded with thoughts(Don't even allow a single) that make you step back from your promise, oath, vow, or whatever you call it.
--> Stand by your promise, oath, vow or whatever till your last breath.
--> Inspire/Persuade others to take similar oaths(Again, whatever you might like to call it.)
To all the brothers and fathers and boyfriends and husbands and friends I say, don't ask her to get in before it gets dark. If you really are concerned, let her be. There are other ways you could protect her. Talk to her, make her confide in you, be a friend to her. Be that someone in her life she knows she can depend upon when she needs a hand. As she is to you, when you need a hand. Admit it or not, YOU NEED HER MORE THAN SHE NEEDS YOU. (But we were talking about ways you could protect her, let's get back!)
Don't be someone she doesn't wanna share her life with because they make her shut up and locked up inside when she doesn't want to be. SHE MAY NEED PROTECTION, BUT SHE DOESN'T NEED TO BE LOCKED UP.
Be someone she trusts enough to tell everything about her life to. About people she associates with, about her ambitions and dreams and anything else. If you're really concerned, let her be. Watch her from a far, if you need to. But LET HER BE. DON'T STOP HER.
To all the mothers and daughters and sisters and friends I say, Support her, Respect her decisions of being herself. Make others realize the same.
To each and everyone of us I say, take the responsibility. Take the responsibility if the next time someone makes a documentary of something that happened in your country, you don't wanna be worried about getting it banned because it makes you feel ashamed of your country.
THIS IS OUR WAKE-UP CALL, this documentary which was aired on BBC yesterday. It should not be banned, we DO NEED FOREIGN MIRRORS. Because ours sure don't work well enough to show us the faces of the monsters that reside in our society.
One of my friends commented that it brings a bad name to the entire INDIAN community in front of the world, and so it should in fact be banned.
GET SOME BALLS. OWN UP. IF YOU REJOICE WHEN THE INDIAN TEAM WINS THE WORLD CUP, TAKE THE SHAME OF THE HIDEOUS CRIME THAT HAPPENED IN YOUR COUNTRY. The world cup makes you happy and proud. Let this documentary bring u shame. You did not have a hand in the crime, not all of you. You did not win the world cup either, not all of you. But you did celebrate. So burn with the shame now. OWN UP. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. YOU LET IT HAPPEN.
P.S. Watch this video :
And yes the documentary slammed the bitter reality of my country and the majority view of my countrymen !!!
