When I was a kid, I was like an untamed beast unleashed. I ventured into various unpredictable and dangerous situations. I used to leap like a lion and and catch hold of my prey. I constantly used to get into fights for no reason. I just, after all, was a hyper-active child. The only person who was supportive of my atrocious nature was my father. Well, that's partly because he too was like that when he was of my age, and not just him, this nature traces its roots way back to my Great Great Paternal Granddad. We have a great history.
I, being too fond of tracing my family history once found and old dilapidated trunk in my maternal granddad's home. Overcome with sheer joy and excitement, I woke up my poor cousin who was soundly asleep. He is of my age. We began the hunt for its keys. Under the table, inside the locker, amongst the dust-caked books, and god knows where else. Being kids we had vivid imaginations of chest with jewels and gold and various other luxuries. So finally, after various failed attempts, we brought a rock from our backyard and banged on the trunk's surface. It was then we realised that the trunk was never locked up! After observing a moment of stupidity, we opened the trunk in slow motion, just to dramatize the suspense. And lo! The bright rays from the trunk left us blinded for a few seconds, such was the lusture of the jewels. Ohkay, just kidding. When we opened the trunk we were left mortified. All we found was a pair of glasses, "Draupadi's sari" i.e. my maternal granddad's "lungi", a cane or walking stick and rusty old books.
From then on, I became a bit reserved because of the huge blow I had faced. After lot of bargaining and compromises my brother promised me to stay shush on the matter, because if the old members of my family get to know that we destroyed the trunk for absolutely no reason, they would scold me. Because it was me who woke up my dear old cousin from his darling afternoon sleep, it was me who instigated him to break the trunk, it was me who created all the problems in the first place. So the moral is- NEVER let an untamed beast get unleashed.
