“Hey, there is something I wanted to tell you, can you meet me near McD?”
A guy, who represented the first benchers association of the class, called me out of the blues, to meet him for God knows what. He took me to his house where he opened his jacket to reveal out a tie embellishing neatly tucked formals.
“What is this?”
A sarcastic smile spread on my perplexed face. He sat in front of me with an open diary and threw questions which were mostly procrastinated by the ‘not giving a shit’ mind.
“What do you want to do after college, a job or higher studies?”
“Let me complete my engineering first.” I grinned.
An expression on his face changed and I understood that this guy is serious. He then presented an opportunity which he claimed, could change my life. I told that I would think about it and I did think. My mind played oxymoronic tunes and the ‘give it a shot’ tune was overheard at the end. I am a guy who lives on the edge. I called up my parents, had a conversation which was required to settle down the sum, and I signed a relationship which I never knew could give me what I never dreamt of in my life.
“Are you crazy? Shut up and finish your studies first.”
“OOOh!! Mr. Millionaire has come, give him some way.”
“I don’t know what this guy is up to, wasting his life.”
“You should enjoy college life, work later.”
“It’s not gonna work out dude!”
The bottom-right corner of my laptop shows 2 AM. I am sitting on my bed, recalling the comments of my friends with a smile on my face, rather a smirk. Two lines from ‘invictus’ overshadowed all others,
‘I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.’
After facing a lot of the so called problems, may it be related to family, money, college or the personal problem (if you know what I mean), I have learnt one thing, ‘the more problems you face, the more successful you become’.
In my past, I see a young careless guy, drowned in the pool of depression, incarcerated, withering like a sand statue. Dust by dust, grain by grain, placidly, it was given a rock solid shape again which stands tall. Today, with the help of a few ‘just perfect’ people as my guides, I could reach to an amazing financial position as a student. Foreign trips on star cruises and the ‘coming soon’ car of mine makes me think, how life has changed. As told by my friend, ‘it can change life’. The relationship, love and respect I gained through the platform are just overwhelming. There are lot of opportunities which we come across in our day to day life, but the one, as beautiful and pure as this one, has not spread its wings inside my heart.
...i hope its true ... :P
