It's the start of a new academic year for me. And I'm partly excited and partly sad. Excited because of the new semester- another chance to do what you can do. And sad- isn't the reason obvious? I'm feeling bad because my holidays are over! But putting aside those feelings of sadness for sometime now, I thought about the excitement! A new year, a new beginning, a new set of goals and plans. New adventures to look forward to. We think of things we are going to do. I need to score well. I need to do well in the project, extracurricular activities and what not! Every year I feel this. But after the initial period, the excitement just fades away! Everything becomes kind of boring, mundane! We begin doing things just for the sake of doing them.
Why do we stop being inspired after sometime? Is it just that the start of something new that inspires us to do something?
The start is definitely important, because the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. But to go further we need those other steps as well. And what are those other steps? All the days! Everyday is a blessing, an opportunity, a chance to begin anew. Yesterday is gone. You don't know what tomorrow will bring. All you have for now is TODAY! Each day gives an opportunity to grow, to be better. At the end of the day we may succeed or we may not succeed. If we succeed it is really good. And if we do not, it is good as well. It is in those daily failures that we learn how to succeed.
The sets and rises. After every dark night, comes the morning! A new start!
At the end of our life, what matters isn't the number of days or years. It is what we have done in those days and years! Make the best of everyday! Make everyday matter!
