There was a Clean and Clear fresh face competition in our college a week back. I was disgusted to see that all the finalists were girls pale enough to play vampires. What was worse that they actually put a fake talent show on, the girls which were brown even when cheered on by the audience were not taken into the finals. Either they shouldn't let "Unfair" girls participate or stop putting them down like this.
I have seen numerous such instances. I am an okay-okay singer so I sang a lot in chorus in school. It sucked to see better singers being placed in the second row due to their color. The girl who would bring flowers for the chief-guest was the fairest girl of our batch. The girl who won the Miss Beautiful title in Kindergarten was the fairest girl in our class.
These fairness waale ads irritate me to no end.
Hum kaale hai toh kya kare?
Dil waale hai aur khoobsurat bhi

Jon: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes.
People are more than just obsessed with skin color, which is surprising because India is such a diverse country, be it culture, or geography and also in physical appearance...It might be because of the long British Raj due to which "Gora" is still superior in our head.
Krishna, one of our important deities was dark skinned, and it didn't made him less of a God. So its time to wake up from the stereotypes, and towards new beliefs which make sense, and are more empowering to us as a society.
