I've always heard the phrase "love is more important than money" but never understood it the way i did today. While traveling to a mall I was stuck in traffic and noticed a couple walking by on the sidewalk. It was very hot and they were walking along as if on a tour of the city. They had bought some things although they didn't look financially prosperous. The wife and husband were walking holding hands. The wife seemed to be new to the city. It was evident from the curiosity of her eyes. The way she looked at the traffic, tall buildings, big billboards, it was clear that she was from a village and she hadn't been exposed to such environment before. She seemed flabbergasted from the hustle and bustle of city life. She held on to his hand tightly for the fear of getting lost.
Suddenly a very costly car stopped by them at the signal. The woman looked inside and saw another couple sitting inside. The driver, male took out his cellphone and started tinkering with it, so did the female passenger. They didn't seem to care for each other at all. I wondered what went inside the woman's mind who saw the other two who were rich and could possess any material pleasure they wanted. Did she longed for such pleasures? Did she feel unfortunate to be born in a poor family?
Then as if something dawned upon her, the woman outside shifted her gaze upon her husbands face and hugged his arm tightly as though his love was the only thing that mattered to her in the whole world. That is when I understood that money cannot buy love.
